Voters will decide a contentious tax battle involving Sarasota County schools today. At stake, millions of dollars used mainly to pay teachers. The debate has parents and volunteers trying to get out the vote using a phone bank set up inside the Sarasota County Democratic Party headquarters. Ask your congressmen where in the Constitution it says the government must provide health care to the citizenry. When you look at the programs that the government now runs, you get a dismal picture. These programs, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the U.S. Post Office and Amtrak, all run by the government have one thing in common. They are all broke. With this track record, I think the new so-called health care reform program the Congress is determined to force on us, is destined to be just another miserable expense for the taxpayers. ...more

The thought of turning to a third party is intriguing yet is also scary. There is widespread disenchantment with both the Democrats and the Republicans in Washington. We see that many of them love the power of big government and the pleasure of spending the taxpayers' money! The perquisites of a career in office are an irresistible temptation. A third party is not the answer, however. The third party and the party they have abandoned are almost guaranteed to lose the next election, turning over the spoils to the other party. ...more
