Students in Hillsborough Community College's Veterinary Technology Program gained hands-on experience this week for National Spay Day, helping with the neuter surgery of this dog - still groggy from anesthesia - and the neuters and spays of several other animals from Hillsborough County Animal Services. Students assisted in all aspects of the surgeries, performed at the Plant City campus by veterinarian Vincent Centonze, an instructor in the AVMA accredited program. Based in San Antonio, Spay Pasco began in 2007 to deal with the homeless pet overpopulation problem, officials said.
