A narrow strip of land along the top of the Shoppes at New Tampa has become a hurdle in the county's effort to extend State Road 56 across Wiregrass Ranch. County officials disagree with the road builders – Locust Branch LLC and the Meadow Pointe IV Community Development district -- over how to get access to about 10 feet along the northern edge of the plaza and who should do it. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash this morning that sent a motorcyclist flying into a light pole on U.S. 19 near Lakewood Plaza, a witness said. The crash occurred as the motorcycle was traveling south and had just passed Berkeley Manor/Breakwater boulevard.
