Specialist Brice A. DuBoice, 19th Engineer Battalion with the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., returned safely back with his unit after a 15-month deployment to Camp Speicher, Iraq. Originally scheduled for a 12-month tour, Brice's unit was affected by the three-month extension announced in April 2007. While in Iraq, the battalion was responsible for repairing roads and buildings and other critical infrastructure. The soldiers in his unit also helped train Iraqi engineers in how to operate heavy equipment. Brice is the son of Dwight C. DuBoice (Lake Wales) and Julia G. DuBoice (Sebring) and maternal grandson to the late Retired Master Sgt. Donald E. Gallimore and Lorraine C. Gallimore of Avon Park. His paternal grandparents are Herman J. Since my father-in-law started this business back in 1959, there has been many a letter from our customers thanking us for quality service, friendly staff, and for being honest with them. Each and every one of these letters we have treasured. Well, the tables have been turned on us this month. Now it is my turn to say thank you. Recently Charles, owner of Cooper and Son Inc., had to have quadruple bypass surgery in Orlando. It was totally unexpected for all of us, especially Charles. We had expected a stent but not a major "overhaul" on his system. To make matters worse, after returning home from a near perfect operation, complications set in and we were faced with another stay in the hospital locally. ...more
