Strategy in chess leads to strategies in life. So every student at Academy Prep of Tampa Bay is taught the board game where two players do battle, trading off pawns, rooks, knights, bishops and an all-powerful queen to protect their kings. "Kids can think deeper after playing chess," said Ted McNair, who began teaching chess skills at Academy Prep when the school opened six years ago at 1207 E. Columbus Drive.
