Q. My 91 year old mother is a survivor of the 1918-1919 pandemic. As long as she can remember, she has never had another flu since. Nor have I contacted a flu to the best of my knowledge. Is it possible for the children of the pandemic survivors to have built up an immunity to flu viruses? ...more

Regarding Pat Buchanan's column headlined "National Interest Comes First." In the Nov. 24 column, where he quoted Condi Rice,"for 60 years my country, the United States, pursued stability at the expense of democracy in the Middle East region and we achieved neither. Now we are taking a different course. We are supporting the democratic aspirations of all people." This is high fallutin' horse patootie. Regarding an article in the Tampa Tribune titled "Vaccination Prioritized for the flu." It is about who will receive the flu shots if a super-strain of flu triggers the next pandemic. The government has pregnant women and babies first, government workers next, and way down at the bottom are seniors (at the end of the line.)
