TAMPA State regulators are expected to decide today whether Tampa Electric Co. and Progress Energy can raise electric bills next year to cover higher costs for oil, natural gas and other fuels used to generate electricity. In January, customers of Progress Energy Florida will begin paying the preconstruction costs for two new nuclear reactors planned in Levy County. The St. Petersburg-based utility won approval from the Florida Public Service Commission today to pass on the costs to customers.
