SEBRING – The Sunset Grille has devised a new beach and bar menu in line with the theme "Life Is A Beach Down At The Sunset Grille." "We didn't think we were utilizing it (the beach)," said Robert Gray, one of the owners of the restaurant overlooking Lake Jackson in Sebring. "We have a beach here, and you can pull up in your boat. We will be putting picnic tables on the beach." Food items on the menu that Gray describes as "true beach fare" include peel and eat shrimp, gator tail, fish fingers and catfish nuggets. There are also hot dogs, beach burgers, chicken wings, french fires and onion rings. Gray said the eatery is going to bring in an event coordinator to help plan some events. ...more

SARASOTA – The Sebring girls basketball team came into Booker High School looking for revenge. What they got was a replay. "We couldn't get our shots off or find the holes we needed to score," said Blue Streak junior Shoop. "It was exactly like last time." Booker's defense suffocated Sebring's attack on Tuesday night, holding the Blue Streaks to four points in the third quarter and no points in the final 4:20 of the game as the Tornadoes pulled off a 38-34 victory over the Streaks in the Class 4A regional semifinals. ...more

SARASOTA — Daija Barrett's tears told how close the Avon Park girls basketball team came to a rematch with the Sebring and an extension of its season, as the junior reluctantly relived the final seconds of Friday's Class 4A–District 10 semifinal game against Booker. "My father has told me time and time again that free throws win games," Barrett said. "It was a lot of pressure, but as a player you want the ball in your hand to win the game.
