4A-D10 BOYS BASKETBALL DISTRICT FINAL: Sebring Tops Palmetto For First District Title Since '05

Joe Young scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and Chris Grubb got hot from behind the arch late to lead the Sebring boys basketball team to its first district title since 2005 with a 53-49 victory over Palmetto in the final of the Class 4A-District 10 tournament at DeSoto High School. The game was tight throughout, but the tenacity of the Sebring defense and Young's inside presence willed the Streaks to the title and a regional home game, to be played against the loser of District 9 runner-up Kathleen or Bartow, at 7 p.m. on Thursday. ...more

4A-D10 BOYS BASKETBALL SEMIS: Sebring Runs Past Hardee, 89-73

The Sebring boys basketball team had four players score more than 15 points on Friday night and the Blue Streaks advanced to the championship final of the Class 4A-District 10 tournament with an 89-73 victory over upstart Hardee. Jake Trussell scored 19 points, Tevin Toney added 17 points, JC Howard had 15 points and Robert "Jewel" Campbell added 14 more (including three late dunks) to lead the second-seeded Streaks past the No. 7-seeded Wildcats at DeSoto High School. The win puts Sebring into Saturday's game against the winner of the late game, top-seeded Palmetto or Braden River. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ...more
