We think we would all agree that it is great that the election is finally over. It is a long day for the workers at the polls, starting at 6 a.m. and ending after 8 p.m., plus there are several schools and meetings that we must attend before every election. The workers of Precinct 5, the Sebring Hills Club House, would like to publicly thank Sonny's Real Pit Barbecue, Brenda Brady and her staff, for providing us with a delicious meal both on Primary day in August and again on Election Day. It is once in a lifetime that we get the opportunity to preserve a human institution and take action to change the outcome of history. Right now, this is our moment in history here in Florida with Amendment Two on the ballot on Nov. 4. A "Yes" vote on Amendment Two defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman, which is most beneficial for the common good of society. Marriage creates families, the very foundation our society is built upon, and without it we will surely crumble as a nation. Think about this for a moment, traditional marriage actually protects children. Amendment Two protects our children from being taught in public schools that the same sex marriage is the same as natural marriage. If same sex marriage is legalized in Florida, public schools will be forced to teach your children and grandchildren that homosexual marriages are equal to marriages between a man and a woman. Since homosexual marriage was legalized in Massachusetts, public school teachers are now being forced to teach this very thing. ...more
