Hernando's homeless are out there. To count them, however, takes real work. So volunteers will fan out to all parts of the county this Saturday to get at least a rough estimate of those living in the woods, behind shopping centers or in their cars. ...more

Public Meeting Hernando County Continuum of Care of the Mid Florida Homeless Coalition will hold its monthly meeting from 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Children's Advocacy Center of Hernando at Mid Florida Community Services located at 880 Kennedy Blvd., Brooksville. Plans will be made for the 2009 homeless point-in-time census, which will be held on Jan. 24. Those interested in the prevention of homelessness or assisting those who are homeless are encouraged to attend.
