I am outraged by Ron Smith's comment ("Agency spends $20,000 on food," front page, Nov. 24) regarding the excessive catering bills for the working lunches: "I think you're nitpicking, end of subject." I have had working lunches in my lifetime, but they never came anywhere near $155.94, even with the tip included. ...more

As some who also has no health insurance, and who believes that the government should do something to reform it, I am, on the other hand, somewhat disturbed by the attitude of people like Colleen Kasperek who is willing to take any kind of government health care system including this huge 2,000-page bill, which I doubt anyone in Congress knows what is in it. ...more

Mr. Hensley, you were right on target in your column about Lyn Roche. We have truly lost a lady who was a servant of God with that something extra that radiated from her soul. I am a member of the Alzheimer's Caregivers Group that Lyn and Bill organized and ran, and the love and energy that she and Bill invested is untold. The main lesson given each week was "it is all about love." They exemplified this in their daily lives, as well as assuring the caregiver that by keeping this as our number one priority we can accomplish our task of taking the very best care of our loved one. I have lost a friend; we have all lost a friend (as we all believe that we were her best friend) and I will miss the sound of her saying my name in that special way, but I can just imagine how thrilled she was when she heard her "Master" say her name last Wednesday. ...more
