SEBRING — Playing Beefo Bingo at Ag-Venture at Firemen's Field Tuesday, third-graders learned that cattle provide a lot more than the beef that is for dinner. Using marshmallows for markers, the students filled in their Bingo cards as Ag-Venture volunteer Wayne Godwin named off things that had a component from beef byproducts: luggage, paints, pet food, bandages, insulin, mayonnaise, crayons, soap and candy. ...more

Highlands County third-graders are in for special treat this week and it has nothing to do with Halloween. It has everything to do with agriculture, as the young students will be able to participate in the 8th annual Ag-Venture on Tuesday at the Highlands County Fairgrounds in Sebring. The agricultural community comes together in an effort to educate children about the importance of agriculture not only in Highlands County but in the state as well as the country. ...more
