WRESTLING

Of Hernando County's four mat programs, only one will not be traveling this weekend.
Central High hosts its third annual Alan Solomon Duals at the Bears' Den beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. and running until approximately 6 p.m.
The tournament is named after the former Central High wrestling coach, who continues to officiate locally.
The six-team field will compete in a round-robin format featuring: host and 2A-7 Brooksville-Central, 2A-7 Hudson, 2A-5 Celebration, 2A-5 Harmony, 1A-8 Dunnellon and 1A-10 Tampa-Berkeley Prep.
The defending tournament champion is Central.
Trophies will be presented to the top two teams and an Outstanding Wrestler Award will be presented to one member from each team.

Bears 101

Central opened the season with an 11th-hour 36-35 nail biter at Lecanto followed by an encouraging fourth-place finish out of 15 teams in the Nov. 21 Berkeley Prep Invitational in Tampa.
Coming in, senior Patrick Scott and junior Robbie Monsegur pace the Bears with 4-1 won-lost records. Sophomore Luke Walton and senior Zach Martin are a step behind at 3-1.
Last winter, David Supple (3-3 this year) and David Merced (0-0) each went 5-0.
CHS is expected to bring a 20-man roster.
According to the tournament schedule, Central will compete against Berkeley Prep, Hudson, Dunnellon, Celebration and Harmony.
So how will the Bears fare in their own backyard?
"Any time you host, it's nice to win," explained fourth-year Bears Head Coach Roy Reyes. "I see Harmony may be our biggest test."
What are the keys to success on Saturday?
"It'll take a complete team effort," insisted Coach Reyes. "Even though we're a young team overall, I'm comfortable with the lineup. But each guy has to do their part. If they do that at the end of the day, we should be successful. In a dual-meet tournament every single kid is important."
