Hernando High football coach John Palmer just needs his team to take advantage of a few opportunities.
His team missed some chances as Wesley Chapel High (2-2) downed Hernando (1-3) Friday night at Tom Fisher Memorial Stadium, 29-13.
"We moved the ball well at times,'' Palmer said. "Then, coming down, we will have a penalty or interception. We have to capitalize and that's part of growing and becoming a better team."
Wesley Chapel rushed for 270 yards with running backs Keenan Reynolds and Hunter Joyner gaining the bulk of it. Reynolds ran for 126 yards on eight carries and scored twice. Joyner had 98 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Reynolds broke away for a 56-yard touchdown run with 4:47 left in the second quarter. Wesley Chapel's Mitchell Wozniak ended a Hernando drive with an interception on the Wesley Chapel 35-yardline.
Wesley Chapel place-kicker C.J. West booted a 36-yard field goal with time running out in the first half.
The Wildcats held Hernando to two yards passing in the first half.
