Hernando Christian Academy has posted a 3-2 record through the first week and a half of this season, and will face a major challenge over the next three days.
The Lady Lions are competing in the 25th annual Keswick Invitational starting today through Saturday at St. Petersburg-Keswick Christian School.
"It's good competition, the competition should be really tough," HCA Head Coach Sue Murphy said. "We're struggling with just working together. We have a brand new team, we have great players that are setters but they've never set before.
"We're really trying to get more playing time in so we start working together."
The 16-team event is divided into four pools. Pool play will take place today and tomorrow, with four bracketed divisional playoffs on Saturday. Each match is best 2-of-3.
HCA plays its first tournament game at 4 p.m. against Indian Rocks Christian, and then will turn around at 6 p.m. to face Pinellas Park High. The Lady Lions play again Friday at 8 p.m. versus Boca Raton Christian.
"It gives us an idea of where we're at," Murphy said. "It tells us what we have to work on the most."
