Lightning, Walgreens offers flu shots
TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Lightning have partnered with Walgreens to provide fans with flu shots and bags containing money-saving coupons Saturday, Oct. 25, versus the San Jose Sharks. There will also be free photos and prints with former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk, ThunderBug and the Lightning Girls.
Walgreens will be on the Chrysler/Jeep Plaza prior to each game and behind section 104 during the games. They will give away gift bags that include coupons for 15 percent off entire store purchases to those who take flu shots. The shots, to be administered by certified pharmacists, are now available at all Walgreens stores.
Also, fans who stop by the Walgreens kiosk can also register to win an autographed Martin St. Louis jersey on October 25.

Toys for Tots Golf Tourney
SPRING HILL - The Toys for Tots Golf Tournament is set for an 8 a.m. start featuring a four-person best ball format on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Seven Hills Golfers Club, 10599 Fairchild Road.
Cost is $50 per person (if payment received by Dec. 4) and $55 per person (after Dec. 4).
Lunch immediately follows the tourney.
There will also be prizes for hole-in-one winners and door prizes.
Individual entrants are welcome and will be teamed by the tournament committee, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Junior Golf Tourney
BROOKSVILLE - Hernando County junior golfers interested in playing college golf are invited to compete in the fourth annual Kelly Love Showcase Classic on Nov. 8-9 at 8:30 a.m. at Destin's Santa Rosa Beach Golf Club.
The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard.
College coaches from throughout the south are invited to attend and a coach's packet with participants' contact information is provided to all attending coaches. Results of the event are emailed to every collegiate golf program in the nation.
The tourney registration deadline is 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.

West Hernando Bass Club continues to grow
SPRING HILL - The West Hernando Bass Club's Open Bass Tournaments have been drawing more and more support from local fishermen. The club has been sponsoring monthly Bass Fishing Events at Lake Rousseau for the past year. Attendance has grown to approximately 25 to 35 teams that compete on the last Saturday of each month. Sponsorship by several local sporting goods and tackle shops have helped to make the days activities a great success.
Last month's tourney winner, Keith Fells, caught a 17.37 pound catch.

'Little Buddies' Tennis, Golf Programs
BROOKSVILLE - The City of Brooksville Recreation Department is offering "Little Buddies" Tennis for children, ages 4-6.
The "Little Buddies" Tennis program is designed o help parents work one-on-one with their child while teaching them the basics of tennis.
The program will be held indoors on Mondays from 5:45-6:45 p.m. at the Jerome Brown Community Center, 99 Jerome Brown Place, Brooksville, 34601, beginning Oct. 20 and running through Nov. 24.
The cost is $50 per child for the 6-week program and includes a T-shirt.

A "Little Buddies" First Tee program will also be offered for children ages 5-7 and 8-12.

The program will be on Tuesdays for ages 5-7 beginning Oct. 21 and Thursdays for ages 8-12 beginning Oct. 23.
The five-week program costs $50 per child and includes a T-shirt.

St. Catholic Church Golf Tourney
BROOKSVILLE - St. Anthony Catholic Church, 20428 Cortez Blvd., is sponsoring its 16th annual Golf Tournament featuring a four-person scramble format beginning at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Brooksville Country Club.
Cost is $65 per player and includes green fees, cart and dinner.

SH Wrestling Club seeks additional members
SPRING HILL - The Spring Hill Wrestling Club is the place to learn the fundamentals of wrestling.
Practices are held Tuesday and Thursdays in the wrestling room at Springstead High School: 6-7 p.m. for grades Kindergarten-4; and from 7-8 p.m. for grades 5-8.
Cost is $75 and includes a USA Wrestling membership card and club T-shirt. Checks should be made out to Springstead Wrestling. Parents who have already purchased a USA Wrestling Card will have a discounted membership fee.

Fourth annual Crystal River Tennis Fest
CRYSTAL RIVER - The 4th annual Crystal River Fall Tennis Fest will be held at
Crystal River High School on Oct. 25-26. The tourney will benefit Crystal River High School tennis program.
The event features men's, women's and mixed doubles action.
Three matches are guaranteed and complimentary T-shirts to all entrants, awards for winners in each compass point.
Deadline for entries is Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Entry fee is $20 per person for the first event and $10 per person for the second event.
U.S.T.A. rules will govern all play. After the first round, all matches will be best 2-of-3 sets with a 12 point tie-breaker played when the score is 6-6. Balls will be provided. The tournament director will evaluate all entries.

Catholic Charities Golf Tourney
BROOKSVILLE - The Hernando County Advisory Board of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Petersburg is sponsoring its fourth annual Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 31, at Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club in Brooksville.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. followed by a buffet lunch and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $60 and is limited to the first 128 golfers.
Prizes will be awarded to the first-place team, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and for a putting contest. There will also be a silent auction and a Chinese auction.
For those of you want to try for a hole-in-one, the seventh hole offers a new Buick, leased for two years from Rick Matthews Buick, free.
All funds raised will be designated to building a new Catholic Charities Northern Counties Social Services Center in Hernando County. The Center will include programming for professional counseling services to the working poor, pregnancy and parenting support services to families facing an unplanned pregnancy, center-based respite care for those with Alzheimer's and other memory loss illnesses, and adoptions. The Center will also serve as the administrative center for the region, which includes Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties.
These services are provided regardless of religious preference, race, creed, gender, national origin, handicapping condition or socio-economic status.

Learn to scuba
SPRING HILL - Learn to scuba at the Hernando County Family YMCA. Classes begin Nov. 4 and run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m.
This course includes six class and pool sessions for ages 12 and older in good physical health and comfortable in and under the water.
There will also be classes from 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m. for ages 10 and older, plus open water dives on Thursday and Friday in the Gulf of Mexico or Rainbow River at $20 per day.
Upon completion of the classes persons will be certified as Open Water Scuba Diver, recognized worldwide.
The cost is $120 for YMCA members and $140 for non-members, plus $60 for use of scuba equipment.
