BUSHNELL - Some test a team's strength by its ability to bounce back from adversity. If so, then Hernando's AAA Minors (ages 9-10) All-Stars passed that exam at the District 6 Tournament last night.
Easily.
Hernando scored in every inning, including Tyson Libengood's two-run homer deep to right-center field in the fourth, and didn't allow a hit until the fourth in dominating Ridge Manor 13-0.
The victory kept Hernando's hopes alive with a game against the loser of last night's late game between Spring Hill American-San Antonio.
"We hit the ball very well," said Coach Bruce Price. "We let that first game (Saturday, an 8-7 loss to San Antonio) get away from us.
"We got good pitching tonight all around."
Starter Pierce Kimbrough worked the first two innings to get the win, walking two and striking out five. Cameron Price worked the third, surrendering a two-out single to Junior McBee -- Ridge Manor's only hit. Price struck out one. Kurt Eppley pitched the fourth, striking out the side.
Price had two hits, including a two-run double in the second and a two-run single in the third, to pace the attack. Kimbrough and Ramirez each contributed a run-scoring double to the attack.
