For most of the night, things were going great for Spring Hill Senior Boys Head Coach Mike Sollazzo in his team's third-round Dixie League World Series game Monday night against Louisiana.
Going into the last inning, Spring Hill led 4-1 over Rustin, La. and was three outs away from winning its third straight.
But in the final at-bat, Louisiana scored nine runs to beat Spring Hill 10-4, dropping the Floridians into the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament.
"We needed three outs in the seventh inning," recalled Sollazzo. "We were in control of the game. I had my ace, J. T. Simpson on the mound. But he ran out of pitches (there is a 75-pitch count in each game).
"I brought in some relievers and the wheels fell off and the bus went over the cliff."
