A woman was arrested on a DUI charge Thursday night after two mailboxes and a power pole were struck down along Haywood Road, deputies said.
Sarah Manescalchi, 32, was driving a Dodge Ram northbound sometime after 7 p.m. when she lost control along a curve and struck two mailboxes and a power pole holding a transformer, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Several residents lost power as a result of the crash and the amount of property damage was estimated at $5,100, deputies said.
Manescalchi, who lives at 10225 Hayward Road, was charged with DUI with property damage and was transported to the Hernando County Jail. Her bond was set at $500.
Manescalchi was not injured. The arresting deputy stated in his arrest report he could smell a "moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath" and noticed her eyes were red and watery and her pupils were dilated.
A breath test revealed Manescalchi's blood-alcohol level was at .23 – nearly three times the legal limit, according to the sheriff's office.
Manescalchi said during her interview she had consumed almost an entire bottle of wine while sunbathing at her neighbor's house and also had consumed some beer during the drive home, deputies said.
