Final vote slated for board budget

BROOKSVILLE - Tuesday will be the last chance for the public to weigh-in on the 2012-13 budget before school board members take their final vote on the matter.Published: September 15, 2012
The public hearing is slated for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school board office, located at 919 North Broad St., in Brooksville.

That means a homeowner with a $125,000 home and a $25,000 homestead exemption — whose property values didn't change from year to year — would pay roughly $745 compared to the roughly $750 they paid a year prior.
Blavatt noted in his report that coupled with the declining property values, the district would likely receive $4.84 million less from local taxpayers than it did the year prior.
Blavatt noted in his budget report that compared to five years ago during the 2008-09 school year, per student funding has decreased about $365.
