BROOKSVILLE - A man who told his wife he wanted a divorce says she responded by pointing a gun at both him and herself saying, "One of us is going to get shot in the head."

On Saturday, deputies responded to 22155 Garmisch Way after hearing reports of gunshots, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report.

When they arrived, they found a man holding a woman down on the floor of the garage.

Once separated, the man said his wife, Jeanne Marie Wallace, 56, had produced a .38 caliber handgun after he told her he wanted a divorce and took turns pointing the gun at him and herself.

Twice during the encounter, she also fired the pistol twice, hitting no one, the report showed.

After the second shot, the man said he tackled Wallace to the ground while she struggled to pull back the hammer on the pistol.

Deputies noted the pistol, which was lying near the couple when they entered the garage, had two empty shells. Bullet holes were also located in the ceiling and the wall.

Wallace told deputies she did lunge at her husband with the intent of punching him, but added she didn't know who had the gun at any point and time or who had shot it, the report showed. She added she isn't suicidal.

Wallace was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and taken to Hernando County Jail where she is being held on a no-bond status.
