Impressive letterPublished: October 26, 2012
I was reading the Sunday Hernando Today and the letter titled "Vote Obama" was pretty impressive.
I like letters with facts and content, which that letter was full of them. When voters read the paper they like to read the truth and not lies and not the half truth or half lies.
The fact is these days who really knows the facts or truth about anything unless you take the time to look things up.
Well, after reading that letter, I went on my computer to finds some facts. The fact is that Gov. Mitt Romney got a deferment from the military. That means he put off himself from entering the military till after he finish his schooling but when his schooling was completed, why didn't he join the military.
What that really means is that him and many others evaded the draft back in the 60's and 70's and using their schooling as an excuse not to go in the military while we were in a conflict, not war.
Now we have his sons, Tagg, Craig, Matt, Ben and Josh all choose not to join the military like there father, I wonder where they got that idea from.
How many families that have several boys and not one of them joined the military, ask that 47 percent of families that Gov. Romney speaks about. I would adventurer to say of that 47percent, that a high percentage of them, at least one of there boy's have been in the military during peace, conflict or war time.
It looks like the Romney boys have chosen the path of their father and not their grandfather, who was a real war hero, he was not afraid to join the military. Yes, I am aware that President Obama didn't serve either but he does not have five sons, only two daughters.
I just wanted to make aware to all veterans that go to the polls on Nov. 6, Republican, Democrats, Independents or what ever your party affiliation, if you are a veteran, ask yourself, why did they not serve, then vote.

Energy independence
By now I think everybody has read about the proposed pipeline from Canada to the refineries in Texas.
Both presidential candidates have taken stands on this proposal and both have different views on how to go about getting it built.
We need to take caution here before any part of this is built. We as a nation need certain guarantees from the oil companies that the oil delivered to these refineries from the shale oil fields in Canada are refined to be sold here in the USA and help lead us toward energy independence and not sold on the open market to the highest bidder.
We all have been down this road before in Alaska, we all have herd the same rhetoric about how this will lead us to energy independence only to have big oil sell the end product to foreign countries because they can make more profit.
Caution and guarantees need to be met, "In God We Trust" the rest sign a contracts. It all sounds good about creating jobs, although not all the jobs will be American. It sounds good that this oil will help get us energy independent but only if the end product is sold here and not help the bulging pockets of big oil and the empty pockets of the American consumer.

Hollywood celebrities for Obama
Recently, Eva Longoria Tweeted that Mitt Romney was a racist. I guess the last TV show she was on "Desperate Housewives" pretty much says it all.
I'm sure she has a complete knowledge of the Obama agenda and is well versed on Romney's plan for America. Other celebrities like Clooney, Letterman and others are telling you, the folks who get up and go to work and try to earn a living every day, that you should vote for Obama.
These are people who live in multimillion dollar homes, drive cars that cost more than the average wage earners salary for 5 years and own Rolex watches that cost the price of a car you drive.
What is it that I have in common with these people? Are they out there with the common man trying to find a job, feed a family, and pay for an education? Not hardly. I guess they have a right to their opinion as to who to vote for, but I seriously doubt their reason for voting for their choice is completely different than mine.
So you Hollywood elite can continue to pour money into Obama's campaign and if he's re-elected, I'm sure you will be the first to sign up for "Obamacare."
