SPRING HILL - A man already facing burglary charges went back and confronted the residents, earning him another charge of intimidating a witness.

On Sunday, Jason Rodney Smith, 30, was charged with burglary after three men said they recognized him as the man who broke into a house and stole various items, including Playstation 3 games and console, shoes, a jewelry box and DVDs, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report.

He told the deputy at the time that he was angry at one of the residents there for comments that were made on Facebook.

But on Monday, deputies say Smith returned, was intoxicated and proceeded to take a swing at one of the men living there, the report stated.

The residents at the house told deputies they heard a car horn sounding from the front of the house, where they saw Smith.

Upon confronting him, Smith then swung at one of the residents, who dodged the punch.

The house residents then tackled Smith and held him there until deputies arrived.

Smith admitted to drinking alcohol before coming to the house. Deputies noted his slurred speech.

Due to Smith being out on bond for the burglary, he was being held Monday at the Hernando County Jail on a no bond status.
