BROOKSVILLE A homeless man died early Monday morning after police say he accidentally set himself and his campsite on fire.

At roughly 5:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a brushfire in a wooded area close to 413 Ponce De Leon Boulevard, according to a Brooksville Police Department press release.

There they found the body of Larry Workman, a transient that officials learned was living on the property with permission from the owner.

A preliminary investigation has determined that Workman's portable propane tank leaked and then exploded, setting Workman's camp on fire while causing him fatal burns.
