Giving teachers their due

In light of National Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take the time to commend all the great educators I have worked with in my seven years of teaching.

I have seen teachers sacrifice so much to help children lead a better life. Often, these same teachers must endure criticism, low pay, constant government reform and lack of resources while at the same time, expected to perform a very difficult job.

Yes, I know that society complains that teachers get a lot of time off and have "good" hours, however I truly believe it takes a person with a special soul to remain in this profession. To be a teacher means to be a great giver, someone who gives unconditionally knowing that they may never receive an immediate or concrete return, but that they believe in the long-run they will have made a difference.

Teacher should be removed

I was furious in 2008 when the school district allowed Jesse Mockler to continue teaching and now after his most recent arrest he is still teaching? What are they waiting for?

Does he have to sell booze and drugs to the kids? Or should he beat one of them before you remove him as a teacher?

He also needs to be removed from coaching at the West Hernando Little League before he hurts one of them. He seems to have the attitude that if he says "sorry" that everything will be OK. Wrong!

Beware Hernando County School District and West Hernando Little League – you are opening up yourself for a large lawsuit if he hurts any children!
