Setting the record straightPublished: July 28, 2012
I am writing on behalf of Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) to request the correction of an error that appeared in the July 19 piece "ALEC is an enemy of liberty."
Contrary to the author's statements, CCA is not a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). The company ended its non-voting membership with the organization in 2010.
Additionally, it is CCA's longstanding policy not to draft, lobby for or in any way promote crime, sentencing or detention legislation.
We understand and appreciate that partnership corrections is one of a number of solutions being considered and implemented by governments around the country.
Indeed, there is no "one size fits all" solution to the corrections challenges that exist. Our company simply provides an alternative that has proven itself time and time again over the course of nearly 30 years, and we are proud of the role we play in helping securely and humanely house inmates and detainees at cost savings to governments and taxpayers.

Saving America
If you are a small business owner, are you fighting mad at the remarks made by Barack Obama? When he stated, "If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is a slap in the face to small business owners.
My husband and I started a small business in 1987 and thought we could get a small business loan, but when we applied we were told we didn't have any business history to provide and we were denied. We were told to mortgage our home which we were forced to do to provide business capital. No government help for us!
We worked 60-70 hours a week for 13 years, only taking one week's vacation each year which many small business owners are required to do in order to make their businesses successful.
We have a president who has never run anything but his mouth, and for him to tell us that we didn't build our business burns me up. He wants to punish small business owners who make over $250,000 per year by taxing them to death. Where does he think they will get the money to hire employees, build inventory, and order equipment?
Compare Obama with his law degree to Mitt Romney with a law degree and an MBA in Business. Romney has years of business experience while Obama has years of being a community organizer and shaking down people for money.
Bottom line is Obama is envious of Romney's success and wants to paint him as the rich guy who doesn't care about the poor even though Romney spent years helping poor people through his faith as a Mormon.
Vote Obama and his czars out in November and replace him with a financial wizard who will save America.
