Olympic miscue

My country tis of China? ABC News recently reported that the U.S. Olympic team will proudly be wearing red, white and blue, from top to bottom, from their beret right down to their shoes.

And every item in the uniforms that the athletes will be wearing will have been "Made in China." The total uniform for the men costs $1,945 and the women have cost $1,473. The uniform designs were crafted by Ralph Lauren.

My question is, couldn't these uniforms have been "Made in the USA?" Isn't the manufacturing section of our economy in need of work?  Who makes these decisions to outsource the uniforms that our Olympians will be wearing?

What happened to pride in American workmanship?  The Olympics opening ceremonies are a few weeks away and when the pride of America, our athletes march into that stadium on opening day, carrying the American flag, will the flag also have been made in China?

No more entitlement

Being privileged to preview Col. Donald Meyer's column last week I would like to expand upon it.

Those to whom he alludes to as the ones who need to exit the cart and help pull can easily be identified as the "occupiers" those with nothing better to do than disrupt people's daily lives for no other reason than something to do. They are not idealists they are anarchists.

If these layabouts need something to do let us re-instate the draft they can learn about teamwork and the true definition of leadership. They will also be earning money rather than sponging of taxpayers, and best of all, reduce the deployment rates of those brave men and women who do care about our country thus easing their overstressed brains giving them a better chance to heal.

There are far too many men and women today who believe they are entitled so give them an M-16 tell them to stand a post and earn what the blood and treasure our forefathers have bestowed upon them and quit crying for more.

My personal belief is if you are not willing to defend our nation you should not be allowed to have a voice in how it is run.
