Woman bites step-father's leg, hits mom's face with purse

BROOKSVILLE - A Brooksville woman was arrested and charged Thursday with two counts of domestic battery and criminal mischief after biting her step-father in the leg and hitting her mother in the face with her purse, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.Published: December 28, 2012
A call came from 1147 Arlanie Road in reference to a fight between Andrea Pereira, 27, and her parents. According to the caller, Pereira also broke a window.
When the sheriff's deputy arrived Pereira's step-father said his step-daughter was drunk and out of control. He told the deputy he and his wife were trying to go to sleep when they were waken by Pereira arguing, yelling and screaming at them.
Pereira picked up her purse and hit her mother in the face with it, according to the report, and when Pereira tried to leave out the front door, which does not open, she broke the front window with her fists. Afterward, Pereira walked to the side door where she also hit him in the face with the purse, he told the deputy.
Pereira then fell to the ground and bit him in the left leg below his knee, according to the report.
The deputy spoke with Pereira in her bedroom, describing her eyes as bloodshot and watery, and her speech slurred, mumbled and carrying the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
She also had blood on her lower lip, according to the report.
The deputy told her she was under arrest for domestic battery when they were walking down the hallway and Pereira tensed up and pulled away from the deputy. The deputy told her to stop and she refused, so the deputy placed her up against a wall and held her there held until another deputy arrived.
Pereira was held without bond following the incident.
