SPRING HILL Kimberly Losurdo, 45, was arrested Thursday, two days after a nine-year-old in her home ingested cocaine and became ill.Published: December 27, 2012
Fire and rescue responded to the home early Thursday morning after getting the call that a child was having seizures and convulsions, and losing consciousness.
Blood tests later revealed cocaine in the child's system, and the youth was transported out of Hernando County for more advanced medical care.
When interviewed, the child said Losurdo had been smoking, snorting and ingesting an "irregular shaped, rock like" substance.
The child consumed the cocaine on Tuesday and became ill with symptoms similar to the flu, including vomiting.
When interviewed by deputies, Losurdo confirmed both she and the child had been in the house for the last five to seven days. A crack pipe was found in the house.
Three children, aged nine, 11 and 16, were removed from the house by the Department of Children and Families.
Losurdo was charged with child abuse and is being held on a $5,000 bond. The child is expected to recover.
Court records show Losurdo was arrested in January for violating probation.
