SPRING HILL - A 75-year-old Spring Hill woman died Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Mariner and Landover boulevards after a 2004 Ford Ranger ran a red light, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Cecilia Diaz was making a left turn in a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer from the left turn lane on westbound Landover Boulevard entering the intersection of Mariner Boulevard, when Gregory Gerard Sanchez, 26, of Spring Hill, failed to stop for the red traffic signal, the report said.

Sanchez sustained minor injuries after colliding into the left side of Diaz's vehicle, who died at the scene, and both vehicles came to rest in the intersection.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and the accident was not alcohol related, according to a crash report issued by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident remains under investigation.
