Man steals tractor on own property

BROOKSVILLE - A Brooksville man was arrested Sunday after stealing a John Deere tractor parked on his property.Published: December 19, 2012
Mitchell McCall, 48, had an agreement with Circle T Sod to harvest sod from his Citrus Way property. McCall was paid weekly for use of his land, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office report.
McCall took the 2006 John Deere Skid Steer tractor without permission Sunday to move steel and demolish a trailer. The tractor ran out of fuel, and McCall siphoned gas from another Circle T Sod tractor nearby.
The report also said McCall sprayed starter fluid on the machine, causing $8,000 worth of damage.
McCall was charged with larceny of property valued at more than $20,000 but less than $100,000.
