BROOKSVILLE - An underage informant visited 14 area convenient stores Thursday, successfully buying alcohol from three gas stations — two in Brooksville and one in Spring Hill.

The operation was conducted by the Hernando County Sheriff Office's Vice and Narcotics Unit and Hernando County Community Anti-Drug Coalition.

The three store clerks were given the opportunity to attend a Jan. 23 training class for retailers. If they do not, they can be charged for selling alcohol to a minor.

More operations are scheduled in the near future, according to a sheriff's office media release.
