BROOKSVILLE A Hernando County sheriff's deputy was sprayed in the face with liquid soap Tuesday when he entered a detention center cell to speak with an aggravated inmate.
According to Deputy Charles Harrison, Bonny Eva West, 49, of Weeki Wachee, was screaming and banging on her cell door. When Harrison entered the cell to calm her down, West sprayed him in the face with a substance identified later as liquid soap.
The incident was recorded on surveillance tape, and West was charged with assault on an officer. West was originally booked for a probation violation.
