BROOKSVILLE - A woman accused of injecting a 16-year-old with Dilaudid, an opioid and derivative of morphine, was arrested Thursday, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.Published: December 7, 2012
Meghan Hughes-White, 37, injected the youth back in May when the pair were staying at the Days Inn, 6320 Windmere Road, Brooksville, the report said. Deputies said Hughes-White was difficult to locate because she is a transient.
According to Citrus County Sheriff's Office deputies who interviewed the youth, Hughes-White told the victim, "You do not know what you are missing by not injecting Dilaudid."
Hughes-White gave the youth Metadone the next morning to combat sickness from the effects of the drug, the report states.
Following questioning, Hughes-White was arrested and charged with child abuse without great bodily harm. After being read her rights, Hughes-White admitted to injecting Dilaudid into the youth's vein, as well as positioning the needle.
She is being held at the Hernando County Jail on $5,000 bond.
