SPRING HILL - A man allegedly charged at a deputy and was shot with a Taser on Sunday after refusing commands while trying to break into a residence.

A deputy responded to a home Sunday along Dalton Street when he came across Thomas Gordon Lane, 28, who was on a porch pulling on the front door handle, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report.

After refusing commands to show his hands, Lane then charged at the deputy, who responded by shooting him with a stun gun, the report says.

Once on the ground, Lane continued to fight but was eventually restrained.

During a search, deputies found a baggie that contained marijuana along with a smoking pipe.

Lane was charged with burglary, assault and battery of a law enforcement officer and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to Hernando County Jail where his bond was set at $27,000.
