BROOKSVILLE - Paramedics responded Thursday night to a house off Jacobson Road to treat a man with a gash on the back of his leg.

Police showed up later and matched the injured man's white van to a vehicle description made by a witness who saw it earlier that night outside the building at the Brooksville Country Club, which had been burglarized.

Francis Eugene Cole, 48, was transported to Brooksville Regional Hospital to be treated for his injury. Afterward, he was arrested by police on a charge of burglary.

Cole is suspected of entering the business at 23446 Links Drive through a window he broke.

While at the hospital, Cole admitted to detectives he had driven his van to the country club, according to a media release.

Cole was booked at the Hernando County Jail and held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
