Editor's note: According to the Lifeline website, which sponsors SafeLink, the federal "Lifeline" program was created during the Reagan Administration to reduce charges for basic telephone service for eligible low-income consumers. It has now been extended to cellular service. There is no "Obama phone" or other newly created federal program to provide free cell phones, according to the site (www.safelinkwireless.com/EnrollmentPublic/home.aspx).Published: February 18, 2011
The latest rip-off of the taxpayer by Obama (for votes) is the giving away of free cell phones and 100 minutes each month to all persons on welfare - called SafeLink.
The expense of these freebees is costing our government millions of dollars each year. The recipients of this giveaway do not pay taxes, but you pay.
The government is sinking in debt, and this obligation will add one more nail in our debt coffin. Why is Obama continuing to put us deeper and deeper in debt?
This wasteful spending must stop.
Write your legislator and demand that he stop this shameful and costly spending.
