Patient safety must come firstPublished: December 24, 2011
I am both shocked and dismayed to learn that an uncertified operating room technician was employed at Oak Hill Hospital. Why was he working there? Why did he have access to drugs used for anything?
Is it common practice at Oak Hill to employ persons who are not certified as competent in the standard relevant to their area of healthcare or was it a matter of cheap labor versus best practice in patient care?
The questions are endless when one considers patient safety. Any one of us could have been a poor soul on the operating room table and subsequently denied the appropriate medications because of this creep's actions.
Perhaps this illustrates one of the reasons that the RNs are petitioning for more nurses.

Let's make a deal
Just what is it with Obama, is he out directly to destroy this country? The Keystone pipeline is a life saving centuries worth of oil from a neighbor and ally. When Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was here on Monday he told a number of senior American legislators that Obama's screwing around and postponing a decision until after the election will cost us the oil.
Canada is planning to build its own pipeline to the Pacific Coast where the oil can be loaded onto vessels bound for China. China! Can any of you democrats get into high gear and send letters to your president and explain that he can have the environmentalist whacko's but he won't get your vote unless he capitulates and votes in favor of the pipeline now, not after the election when it will be to late.
Obama thinks he'll get the environmental vote now and when the election is over, regardless of who wins, it will be too late to access the oil because the trans-Canadian pipeline will be under way, sorry America you loose.
We have been fighting wars 8,000 miles away destroying the lives of our young men and women and profligate our treasures for oil and here this madman of a president thumbs his nose at future supplies at our backdoor with our neighbor.
All of the studies are in and we know how to build a pipeline and it has cleared all hurdles for construction but the far left fringe of the Democratic party wants nothing to do with fossil fuels so shutting down the pipeline is their answer. Every study done on alternative energy sources show that fossil fuel for transportation will be with us for sometime to come. Solar is "pie in the sky" wishful thinking. Look at what $540 million got us with Solyndra.
Will you people grow up and smell the coffee, not doing the pipeline should be a treasonous action. After all, the government will send our military into harms way at the drop of a dictator's hat for oil we never get after we spend lives and fortunes.
The Canadian oil pipeline will start by producing 20,000 jobs plus untold work on peripheral projects and unless some General goes berserk and sends in the Marines I seriously doubt we will start a war with Canada over it.
Come on people, this is our future life's blood we're talking about. Politics and getting votes should not be part of the equation except for the lower forms of life that occupy the White House. Is that what you want, betting on your children's ability to by gas for their cars to get to work in order not to take Obama to the wood house where he belongs on this issue? Even Senate Democrats want this deal to go through. Flood the switchboards and tell Obama to do the right thing for a change, pass the pipeline, now.
