Illegal aliens

The left-wing liberals have been pushing for amnesty for people here in this country illegally for as long as I can remember.

Now presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has stated that people who have been here for 20 or so years and have been working and paying taxes and have families should have a way to stay here.

I have just a few questions. If you are an illegal and have no proof of citizenship, how do you get a Social Security number? If you use a phony Social Security number to file a federal tax return, isn't that also illegal?

If you work under the table and pay no federal taxes, isn't that illegal? If U.S. citizens use other people's Social Security numbers, that is identity theft, and you go to jail. Why does our government give a pass to people who are already breaking the law by being here? Maybe I'm missing something, but the only way illegal aliens can file tax returns is to use phony documents.

What is wrong with our federal government? What has happened to basic right and wrong? If I break into your house, can I stay? It is way better than mine. If I don't commit any other crime, now can I stay? Well, the Justice Department says illegals who don't commit any other crimes can stay in this country. Please tell me what is the difference? Maybe if I live in a tent in your backyard that would be all right. Do we even have a rule of law anymore?

They say illegals do the work that no one else will do. That's baloney. With millions of Americans out of work, someone would do the job — just pay them a fair wage.

The problem is that illegals are slave labor, and no one wants to admit it. We could solve the problem very easily by stopping the money. No welfare, no food stamps, no housing benefits, no health care unless you are a U.S. citizen. It's that easy.

It will never happen, and I have to wonder — why not?

No respect

This is in response to a recent article by Miss Mercer concerning respect for the use of the name of President Obama as Obama.

Respect must be earned and not mandated, no matter whether he is just a citizen or a president.

Must we respect Hitler and Stalin just because they were heads of state? Of course not.

Obama has lost the respect of most of the public because of the problems he has caused in just three years, and now he is supporting rioting in the streets.

Fortunately, we live in a free country where we are not forced to love our president or his allied politicians.
