USA Tree Service LLC and the Hernando County Foster Parents Association co-sponsored the second annual Christmas party for foster children in Hernando County. The theme was "Art and Music" in the hope this would spark a creative interest in the children.
The party was arranged by Karen Kettner, owner of the tree service, who is also a professional singer. Among the gifts distributed were art kits, harmonicas, flutes, a guitar and bead kits. An abundance of gifts was provided by Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill, the Glen Lakes Clubhouse, Center State Bank staff and patrons, USF, Target, Sam's Club, and Kathleen's Cruise-In and Breakfast Club.
Entertainment was provided by Doug LeFevbre, a real troubadour; Steve Myer, a local musician; and Maggie the Mermaid from Weeki Wachee State Park. Tornadic Balloons provided creatures and hats galore. Santa Claus arrived and gave out all the gifts.
Community restaurants provided pizzas, wings, sandwiches, baked ziti, cupcakes, cookies, brownies — enough to feed an army.
Raffle items included Tampa Bay Rays bobbleheads, a door wreath, haircut gift certificates and beauty products.
The children themselves were like works of art, all dressed up in holiday colors, with bright shining faces and smiles galore.
