Homosassa park seeks wildlife art

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Individuals, students and classrooms have an opportunity to have their artwork displayed at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Homosassa.

Longtime visitors to the park may remember a display at the fishbowl where visitors could pose for photos with their heads on a picture of a body of a manatee. That display has been retired.

The Friends of the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park are giving artists, young and more mature, an opportunity to design a display for their favorite animal. The winning works of art will be included as part of the park for years to come.

Those interested in designing a "Wildlife Moment" should complete an entry form available at the park office.

Artist information should include name, address, phone number(s), email address and any education and/or experience as an artist.

The display design should include sketches and descriptions of a park animal. Submissions will be judged on creativity, originality and visual impact. The chosen concept will be selected by the Friends committee.

The artist will be notified and asked to submit a list of any needed materials, which the Friends will supply.

Mail design concepts to Vicky Iozzia, 5921 W. Meadowpark Lane, Crystal River FL 34429. Deadline for receipt of materials is April 28.

Winners will be announced in May.
