A recent Washington Post story was devoted to exposing the outrageous sums of money paid to defend former officials at Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac.
As of now the cost of defense for one such legal situation has reached $100 million. The people involved were top officials of the GSE's that had billions in mortgages. The three, headlined by Franklin Raines, former CEO of Fanny Mae, who left the agency after receiving multi-million dollar compensation packages and platinum parachutes was under scrutiny for allegedly cooking the books to over state the value of the agency's stock.
To date the FHFA has spent $100 million on behalf of the people being investigated. Once again it highlights the incompetence and corruption that has infused itself into our government bureaucracy.
It is no wonder we have the staggering debt we have when you examine what available options are open to the taxpayer. Next there was a story about another loan to a green energy firm.
It seems that a company named Tonopah Solar Co. received a $737 million loan from the DOE. Rumor has it that Nancy Pelosi's son-in-law is connected to the firm. So the crony capitalism marches on with the U.S. taxpayer footing the bill for these outrageous actions of the administration.
Then we read about GE headed by the president's chairman of the so called Jobs Council, who exports technology and jobs to China, while not paying their (GE) corporate taxes to the U. S.
They have come up with a new wrinkle to support green energy. GE issued a memo to its employees that it was buying thousands of Chevrolet Volts to replace their fleet. Then they go on to say if an employee decides not to utilize the Volt but instead uses their own vehicle they will not be reimbursed.
Of course the company will receive perhaps millions of dollars in federal incentive grants so here we again see crony capitalism at work. In addition if a worker decides to purchase a Volt GE will pay for the electric charging station and the electricity supplied. Wait to the scams in that program begin to surface as it goes forward. That is really looking out for the stockholders of GE and the U.S. taxpayer.
Meanwhile Fast and Furious, the unconscionable gun running scheme, is still coming up with documents that continue to lead to the top officials in the affected agencies and to the Attorney General of the U.S. who continues to stonewall the congressional committee investigating the program.
This was nothing more than a scheme hatched in Washington by the anti-Second Amendment loonies who continue to try to disarm the American people regardless of the Constitution. The first step in the subjugation of a nation is to disarm the citizens who are then powerless against the abuses of tyranny.
