A woman arrested on a violation of probation charge was slapped with another charge Tuesday following allegations she tried smuggling a syringe into the jail.
Melissa Marie Fink, 20, of 7063 Hope Hill Road in Brooksville, was charged with possession or introduction of contraband into a detention facility. Deputies said she had tucked the syringe underneath her bra.
Fink was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. after the Florida Department of Parole and Probation reported she was in violation, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Fink was warned if she arrived at the jail with any contraband, she would be charged accordingly, deputies said.
She told authorities twice she didn't have any drugs or paraphernalia on her, according to an arrest affidavit.
A correctional deputy supervised Fink at the jail and the syringe was discovered while the suspect was changing clothes, deputies said.
Fink told the deputy the syringe was used to inject oxycodone, according to the affidavit.
