Socialist/Communist anarchists, whether through greed, ignorance, ambition or some mix thereof, are seemingly tireless in their subversive efforts.

Take, for example, the current "Teach for America" plot to infiltrate our teacher corps, brainwash young children and thus create a generation of voters ready to accept a government based on the failed principles of radical revolutionaries, such as Lenin or Marx.

Just when we thought we'd eliminated, or at least controlled, that sociological cancer called ACORN, the same socially destructive ideas are being taught and spread by a cadre of untrained, unqualified, and dangerously motivated "teachers," hiding under the warm and fuzzy name of "Teach for America."

Even with the present system of checks and balances, supposedly intended to ensure that our children will be taught the most desirable of principles and values, along with the 3Rs, our public education system is failing by almost any measure.

To, when under such dire existing circumstances, inject a cadre of "teachers" whose sole agenda is to brainwash children to accept repeatedly failed socialistic practices and concepts seems like hiring a fox to guard the hen house.

Teach for America is a dangerous program, which caring parents must oppose wherever, and whenever, it crops up.

Illegal immigrants have been claiming and receiving a tax credit for young children (reportedly resulting in refunds of around $1,800). Some thinking politicians (mainly Republicans), consider that practice to be wrong, and want it stopped. On the other hand, limp-minded liberals (e.g. Sen. Harry Reid) tug at our heart strings by painting pictures of starving, brown-skinned, wide-eyed kiddies being bullied by cruel, fat, white men, merely because their parents intentionally and continually break laws to be in this country.

Sure, there's some regrettable suffering involved in attempting to reduce illegal immigration and the deleterious effect it has on our beleaguered economy, but isn't there usually a less than happy aspect to combating any crime wave?

There's a price in human pain to be paid in fighting illegal immigration, but the responsibility for any such suffering lies not with enforcement agencies, but squarely with the criminals themselves.

No illegal, nor any member of his family, should benefit in any way from being in the U.S. of A. In fact, no child born here of an illegal should be a citizen.

Gay marriage is back in the news — They're baaack! First, let's understand that there's nothing "gay" about being a homosexual, so let's stop pretending that there is, by referring to them as "gays." And marriage is, and always has been, a holy ceremony designed and intended to provide a loving caring family in which to conceive and raise children. Homosexuals can't conceive children, so marriage is inapplicable to their unions or so-called "partnerships."

I support allowing homosexual couples (male or female) to enter into legal agreement offering most of the applicable provisions of marriages, but I do not agree that they should ever be considered to be "married."

We humans communicate thoughts, events, and ideas through use of words. Only when those words have a generally accepted meaning, is effective communication possible.

"Marriage" is the holy and legal union of a man and woman, for purposes of bringing forth healthy, happy, well-educated children: homosexuals can't marry, even if some misguided/corrupt/amoral politicians and lawyers, in places such as Washington State, seem to think so.

Once again, the subject of U.S. military forces on Okinawa has bubbled to the surface. We have some 25,000 troops on Okinawa, occupying a reported 10 percent of the island; seemingly all of the islanders want them gone.

We keep delaying the inevitable by talking about possible relocations (e.g. 8,000 Marines to Guam by 2014), but what we should be doing is bringing them all the way back to USA Jima, and doing that right now.

We can no longer afford, nor justify, attempting to be the World's policeman. Let's bring all of our overseas forces home, and close all of our foreign-based military installations (costly, useless, embassies also, while we're at it).
