United Way of Hernando County, in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service, will again help facilitate the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program for Hernando County.
These volunteers are fully trained and certified to complete tax returns at no charge. Between Jan. 24 and April 15, volunteers will prepare FREE tax returns for Hernando County residents who have no rental property, no farm income and have a low-to-moderate income (generally $50,000 or less).

Mid Florida Community Services (No Appointments necessary), 820 Kennedy Blvd. in Brooksville, (352) 796-8117, on Tuesdays & Thursdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Career Central, appointments only, 7361 Forest Oaks Blvd. in Spring Hill, (352) 200-3030, on Tuesdays & Thursdays 9 a.m. to noon
Spring Hill Library (No Appointments necessary), 9220 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill, on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
For tax preparation you will need to bring:
Social Security or Individual Taxpayer ID cards for you, spouse and dependents; Photo proof for yourself and your spouse; Current year's tax package and label; All income forms, W-2 and 1099's; Information for all deductions/credits; a copy of last year's tax return; Proof of account for direct deposit of refund (e.g. voided check); Any other information you might feel would help the volunteer.
