Operation Fast and Furious is infuriating
Column

For some time we have been reading and commenting on the Administration's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives scheme named "Operation Fast and Furious" that was responsible for firearms being brought into Mexico and winding up in the hands of the murderous cartels.

The problem is that it failed miserably and the ATF lost track of many of the firearms it allowed to enter Mexico, without telling the Mexican government. Besides the deaths of innocent Mexicans a U.S. Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry, was murdered almost one year ago with one of the weapons allowed into Mexico.

When questioned by members of a House committee Attorney General Eric Holder acted as though he never heard of the operation. Subsequent emails documented the correspondence with the AG's office and his memory improved slightly.

According to reports by the Washington Times, which was able to secure a copy of the grand jury indictment, the details of the murder were indeed frightening. It detailed how five armed Mexican cartel members were stalking our U.S. Border Patrol agent on our side of the border with the intent to kill them. One year later the Obama administration has the case records sealed and now neither the public nor the press has any access to the information.

This action from the most "transparent administration ever" headed by the most transparent president ever. Where is the main stream media and all their hot shot reporters bringing this story of government "corruption" and wrongdoing to the public? The one reporter for a TV network that dared to bring the story forward was muzzled within a few days. If this were a Republican administration, this story would be front page every day and looped "ad nausea" 24 hours a day on TV. But not so for the most transparent administration ever!

Many officials in the Border Patrol are concerned that the case has not been brought to trial. The accused killer is a convicted felon and was detained several times for being in the U.S. illegally. Interestingly, at a hearing in November of this year Holder exclaimed it's "not fair to assume that mistakes in Operation Fast and Furious led to Terry's death."

Forget the fact that two of the F&F weapons were recovered at the scene. The man talks like someone who crashed his auto and then claims somebody put a bridge in the roadway.

He is pathetic and would not, when asked in committee, would he apologize to the family of Brian Terry declined but in fairness, did at a later date send a letter to the family expressing condolences. Why hasn't the congressional crowd who went after Alberto Gonzalez, AG under G.W. Bush, for doing what was perfectly legal go after Eric Holder for something that is perfectly illegal.

Now, of course, the Justice Department acting like some Tthird-world secret police has lowered the shroud of secrecy and it will be a difficult task to get all the truth out, but in the long run the truth will be told.
