A man was charged with assault Wednesday morning following accusations he went after his girlfriend and her daughter during a drunken rage.
Jeffrey Lynn Kent, 39, of 12147 Rockford St., arrived at the house heavily intoxicated sometime before 2 a.m. and banged on the front door and all of the windows, deputies said.
The victim said she was scared of letting Kent inside because of his history of domestic violence, according to an arrest report.
At one point, while Kent was knocking on the bedroom window, the victim and her daughter ran into another bedroom, locked the door and hid in the closet while the latter called 911, deputies said.
Kent kicked in a window and entered the house, according to the report.
He entered the bedroom where the victims were hiding and then took girl's cell phone while she was still connected to a 911 dispatcher, deputies said.
The victims ran out of the bedroom and outside to the intersection of Rockford and Cochester Avenue, according to the report.
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office arrived. Kent resisted arrest by attempting to run back into the house, but a deputy pinned him to the ground, the report showed.
The deputy stated Kent repeatedly tried to get away by pushing away from him.
Eventually, the suspect was subdued and was taken to the Hernando County Jail without further incident, deputies said.
In addition to being charged with assault, Kent also was charged with tampering with a witness and resisting arrest without violence.
