Brooksville motorcylist dies following Sumter County crash

A Brooksville motorcyclist died from his injuries Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident along County Road 476, troopers said.

His 1998 Harley Davidson collided with a pickup as the latter was pulling into a gas station parking lot, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Robert M. Reihsmann, 56, was traveling west along the county highway shortly after 4:30 p.m. when the crash occurred, troopers said.

The driver of the 1984 Ford F-250, David J. Hicks, 20, of Bushnell, was traveling eastbound along the same road and was making a left turn into the Circle K food store at the County Road 647 intersection when Reihsmann's motorcycle rammed into the truck's front end, according to an FHP accident report.

Reihsmann was ejected from his motorcycle, the report showed.

He was transported to Tampa General Hospital and was pronounced dead about 90 minutes after the accident, troopers said.
