The Hernando County Fine Arts Council and the planning committee for the Art in the Park festival would like to thank everyone who came out to Tom Varn Park to enjoy our 26th annual event in spite of the brutal temperatures this past weekend.
Our gratitude extends to more than 80 fabulous volunteers who helped make the weekend a success. In addition, local art educators devoted time to choosing and delivering the best of their students' work for the Young Artist Exhibit; Brooksville Parks & Recreation employees helped plan for the event and kept the event site sparkling clean; a School Board employee helped guide us in getting the word out to more than 22,000 students and their families; Main Street Eatery provided storage for art display racks and event supplies; Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant, Beef'O'Brady's and Starbucks helped us feed our volunteers; and even when we were close to being out of ice on Sunday because of unusually warm temperatures, Scott Tilson from All About Music offered to make an ice run and refused to be reimbursed.
Our sponsors are listed on our website, www.hernandoarts.org. Please remember them when you're going about your daily business. They are the threads that make our community fabric strong and beautiful.
We are grateful for these and many more acts of kindness and generosity displayed by the wonderful citizens and businesses of Hernando County in support of Art in the Park. Looking forward to next year.
